Everything you need to know before setting off. From directions to what to bring.

Getting To Height Gate

Height Gate is situated up a winding track off the main road (A646 Halifax Road) between Todmorden and Hebden Bridge. We encourage guests to use public transport where possible, then walk up to Height Gate. If driving we strongly encourage car sharing and keeping the number of vehicles going on the track to a minimum. Vehicles can be left at the valley bottom in the large layby on the main A646, 125m towards Hebden Bridge from the turning off to Height Gate.

What3words ///under.flame.protester or OL21, grid reference 972252

Please follow this map – failure to follow directions might lead in a fine from the landowner of the track and therefore you must not go to the wrong address.

WALKING AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT

We are an outdoor activity camping barn, we love it when people come by public transport, walk or cycle to our centre.

The nearer stations are Todmorden and Hebden Bridge. There are bus stops from both stations at the start of Stoodley Glen, the road we are off, and then it is just under 1.5km walk.

We also recommend a nice walk directly from Hebden Bridge station, which takes in part of the Pennine Way. See the map below for instructions.

Most people should walk to Height Gate from either Hebden Bridge or Todmorden.

If you are driving please follow video and instructions below.

DRIVING

If you are using a maps app such as Google Maps please use ‘Height Gate Camping Barn’ as opposed to the postcode as this will be more accurate.

Turn off the A646 at Stoodley Glen, follow the road over the bridge that goes across the canal. Follow the road until you get to the houses, from there take the track on the left instead of following the road to the houses. When coming up the track go straight over the first cattle grid. When you get to  second cattle go over it and immediately  take the right hand fork in the lane. Do not enter the large stone gates with ‘Height Farm’ on. Keep right and please continue down the track until the end and Height Gate camping Barn will be on your left.

Please watch the video below and look at the map underneath.
